For over 50 years, Missouri’s Community Health Centers have provided high-quality, affordable primary care and preventive services, and often provide on-site dental, pharmaceutical, mental health, and substance use disorder services.
Meeting the needs of our communities
Community Health Centers are located in areas where care is vitally needed but scarce. They improve access to care for thousands of Missourians regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay.
Missouri’s Community Health Centers provide services in each region of the state and serve individuals from every county and the City of St. Louis. They are the medical home to over 628,000 Missourians and provide over 2.4 million encounters each year—numbers that continue to grow.
Community Health Center patients are among Missouri’s most vulnerable populations. People who, even if insured, would remain isolated from care because of where they live or their higher levels of complex health care needs.
Recognized as cost-effective and providing high quality services; Community Health Centers reduce the need for more expensive in-patient and specialty care, saving taxpayers in Missouri millions of dollars each year.
